Tommy Kaira is a Japanese based tuning company who specialise in tuning and styling Subaru and Nissan Models. They started life in 1968 as Tomita Dream Sales and in the eighties became Tommy Kaira. They operate in a similar fashion to Gemballa in as much as they will rebrand a car as if they had manufactured it themselves.
Yet another German based tuning company. Gemballa started life around 30 years ago and have built up quite an expertise in tuning and redesigning Porsche cars to almost unrecognisable levels. In August 2010 the rights to the company name were reserved by Andreas Schwarz (CEO) after liquidators took over at Gemballa. Schwarz (a new personal hero of mine) took over the name and also the employees responsible for creating the machines that made that name in the first place. Gemballa has continued to make the avalanche (based on the 911) and the Mirage GT ( based on the Carrera GT). They have also looked to the future with the Cayman and Panamera.
A.B.T Sportsline are a Germany based tuning company who specialise in Audi and Volkswagen. They also tinker with Seat and Skoda. The company has a rich racing heritage which they draw upon when developing products for street use. With around 200 employees in nearly 70 countries ABT is definitely one of the big boys in this field.
Audi have revealed their 1+1 urban concept car. Just when you thought they couldn’t get any more toyland than the A1 they have only gone and done it. It is, of course, electric and is designed for urban commuting.
If you are anything like me, and for your sake I hope not, you lie awake at night unable to sleep. The reason for my lack of slumber is the time old story, I fret about how we can live in a world so cruel that doesn’t have an all in one resource to explain the ins and outs of wheel alignment. At long last my prayers have been answered with last months launch of Alignmycar.co.uk
FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) showed a concept vehicle at the Australian motor show in July and announced yesterday that they would be producing a limited run of 125. It is exactly the sort of ninjaesque (if I use it enough it will become a real word) car I like. Fair enough, it’s a fairly grunty ninja more Steven Seagal than Bruce Lee but there is no denying that black is definitely the new black.
